我国国土广袤，海疆辽阔，疆界万里绵延，拥有2万公里的疆界和1.8万公里大陆海岸线。从亚洲中部的帕灭人高原，到太平洋西海岸;从寒温带的黑龙江江心，到赤道附近的曾母暗沙，陆地面积约960万平方公里，与6个国家隔海想望，与15个国家接壤，五种基本地形类型均有分布，其边陲地貌各有特色，风光各异，景色多姿。本套邮票展现了我国边陲不同地形地貌特征的自然风光，它们均系初次入选邮票图案。
