Known Varieties
Imperforate-between varieties are very rare and all originate from the 1885 Rough Perforation issue. The rough perforation was caused by worn perforating machines, resulting in irregular and incomplete holes.
Background
The Small Dragon stamps were issued in 1885 as the second set of the Qing Dynasty Customs Post. The original Large Dragon copper plates were severely worn after repeated printing, so a new set of plates was engraved. The Small Dragon design is similar to the Large Dragon, but its size is slightly smaller. It is the first Chinese stamp issue to use watermarked paper with a Taiji (Yin-Yang) design for anti-counterfeiting.

变体票
漏齿票十分罕见，均出自1885年发行的毛齿小龙。毛齿票齿孔为12.5度，产生漏齿的原因是打孔器陈旧，打出的齿孔参差不齐，有的没有打出孔，因而造成漏齿。
背景
小龙邮票是清代海关邮政于1885年发行的第二套邮票。因1878年印制的大龙邮票印模已经磨损无法再用，海关造册处仿照大龙版模重新刻制了一套新邮票。其图案、文字和刷色与大龙邮票相似，但图幅比大龙略小，故被称为“小龙邮票”。小龙邮票是中国第一套采用太极图水印纸印刷的邮票，具有防伪功能。
