El 12 de marzo de 2026, la cuarta sesión de la Decimocuarta Asamblea Popular Nacional aprobó el Código de Medio Ambiente Ecológico de la República Popular China, que entró en vigor el 15 de agosto de 2026. Es la segunda ley denominada «código» después del Código Civil y el primer código unificado de China en materia ecológica y ambiental, marcando el inicio de la era de codificación para la protección ecológica‑ambiental nacional.
