Introduction to 2026‑15 Commemorative Stamp: The 48th WorldSkills Competition
China Post issued this commemorative stamp on 22 September 2026, the opening day of the 48th WorldSkills Competition.

Known as the “Olympics of Skills”, WorldSkills Competition is the world’s highest‑level vocational skills contest. Hosted in Shanghai, the 48th WorldSkills Competition features 64 competition disciplines, the largest number of events in the history of the competition.

📌 Note on statistics (for global philatelists):
Two statistical definitions apply for this event:
1. **Registered participants**: 80 countries and regions completed event registration. This group includes technical delegates and observer delegations; some registered economies did not send competing athletes.
2. **Economies with competing athletes**: 68 countries and regions sent athletes to compete in the official contest events.
The final competitor list was not confirmed when the stamp artwork was finalized and printed. Therefore, two sets of figures are presented for clarity.

The central motif of the stamp is the Luban lock, the official visual symbol of the competition. Graphics representing six major competition sectors are embedded on its six faces. Constructed using traditional mortise‑and‑tenon joints without nails or adhesive, the Luban lock symbolises precision machining and assembly craftsmanship. Its assembled form symbolises skilled talents from across the globe gathering in Shanghai to exchange expertise and learn from one another. The English event name *WorldSkills Shanghai 2026* appears on the stamp, blending China’s traditional mortise‑and‑tenon heritage with the theme of a modern international skills competition, balancing traditional Chinese cultural expression and international visual identity.

The design adopts a clean, contemporary style with bright, vivid colours. High‑precision six‑color offset printing combined with partial embossing and hot stamping enhances the three‑dimensional depth and texture of the Luban lock. The stamp supports AR interaction. Collectors may scan the stamp with the WeChat mini‑program “China Philatelic Stamp Encyclopedia” to view supplementary digital content.
