Yunnan University was founded in 1922 and officially opened on April 20, 1923. The university is one of the earliest comprehensive universities established in the southwest frontier of China, and has successively become a key construction university of the national “211 Project”, a national “basic capacity building project for colleges and universities in the central and western regions”, an implementation institution of the comprehensive strength improvement project of central and western universities, and a “double first-class” construction university. In the new historical period, the university adheres to the spirit of “meeting a hundred schools and reaching the public world”, takes first-class party building as the guide, takes the construction of first-class universities as the center, and takes the fundamental task of cultivating virtue and cultivating people, accelerates the construction of a comprehensive, international and research-oriented world-class university based on the southwest frontier of the motherland and facing South Asia and Southeast Asia, and embarks on a characteristic development path of building a world-class university in border ethnic areas.
