In the folk concept, the brave and majestic image of the tiger is awe-inspiring, and then gradually transformed into a sacred beast, which is endowed with rich and profound symbolic meaning, and has become one of the traditional totems of Chinese culture. For thousands of years, people have worshiped tigers, carved tigers, painted tigers… It has formed a very distinctive Chinese tiger culture.
Designed by Wang Huming, this set of stamps continues the serial characteristics of the “Dragon (Cultural Relics)” and “Phoenix (Cultural Relics)” stamps in terms of design style, and according to the characteristics of cultural relics modeling, the horizontal composition method is selected. The overall picture is simple, bright and layered, highlighting the historical texture of cultural relics and the artistic beauty of stamps.
“Shang Fu Bird Double-tailed Bronze Tiger”, 53.5 cm long, 25.5 cm high, weighs 6.2 kg. It is the largest pre-Qin bronze tiger seen in China so far, and it is known as the “Tiger King”. It is in the jiangxi provincial museum.
“Spring and Autumn Jade Tiger Shaped Pendant”, 14.6 cm long and 4.4 cm wide, jade yellowish, crystal fine, tiger-shaped low head bow back, tail tip up rolled up. The ornamentation is simple, the shape is vivid, and the carving is exquisite. It is hidden in the Henan Museum.
“Han White Tiger Wadang”, diameter 18.7 cm, side wheel width 2.1 cm, thickness 2 cm. Round, clay pottery. A white tiger is decorated in relief around the central breast pillar, its whole body is striped, its mouth is raised with claws, the tiger’s tail is curved, strong and powerful, and its appearance is mighty. It is in the collection of the National Museum of China.
“Han Que Jin Inscription Bronze Tiger Festival”, length 19 cm, height 11.6 cm, thickness 1.2 cm. On the front of the body there is a false gold inscription “King’s Life = (Fate) Chakra”. It is the only piece of wrong gold inscription copper tiger festival found in China so far. It is hidden in the Museum of the King of Nanyue.
“Golden Cizhou kiln white glazed brown flower Crouching Tiger Pillow”, length 34 cm, width 14 cm, height 10 cm. The fierce tiger is a pillow, which embodies the psychological sustenance of the ancients to ward off evil spirits and pray for auspiciousness. It is in the collection of Zhoukou City Museum.
“Qing Shadow Flying Tiger”, Shaanxi Qishan Shadow Flying Tiger, length 42 cm, height 28 cm. The exaggerated tiger steps on the auspicious clouds, surrounded by flames, the eyes are round, the image is mighty, full of spirit, full of romantic color. In the collection of the National Art Museum of China.
The set of stamps was printed by Henan Post and Telecommunications Technology Co., Ltd., and according to the different characteristics of tiger cultural relics, the six stamps used six processes. The first picture adopts rubber carving overprinting, and the pattern of the two-tailed bronze tiger relics of the bird is clear and the image is vivid; The second figure adds jade powder on the basis of offset printing and relief convexification process to restore the natural luster and warm effect of the green jade tiger-shaped pendant; The third figure applies screen matte and relief convexification on the basis of multi-color offset printing to make the image of the white tiger more vivid; The fourth figure uses cold ironing technology and bumping process to reproduce the ancient wrong gold process, and the image of the bronze tiger is majestic and more three-dimensional; The fifth figure creates a serene and lovely image of the tiger through the use of varnish and relief convexification; The sixth figure uses the tactile oil process to express the texture of the shadow puppet flying tiger, and the fluorescent ink shines under the action of the violet lamp. The stamp baseplate is printed in a variety of spot colors, and the shading uses the unique elements of the tiger to perfectly match the theme of the “Tiger (Cultural Relics)” stamp, adding to the unique artistic charm of the cultural relics.

该套邮票由王虎鸣设计,在设计风格上延续了《龙(文物)》《凤(文物)》邮票的系列性特点,并根据文物造型特征,选用横向构图方式。整体画面简洁明快、层次分明,突出展现了文物的历史质感和邮票的艺术美感。
“商·伏鸟双尾青铜虎”,通长53.5厘米、通高25.5厘米、重6.2千克。是我国迄今所见最大的先秦青铜虎,有“虎王”之誉。藏于江西省博物馆。
“春秋·青玉虎形佩”,长14.6厘米,宽4.4厘米,玉质微黄,晶莹细润,虎形低首弓背,尾尖上卷。纹饰古朴,造型生动,刻工精细。藏于河南博物院。
“汉·白虎瓦当”,直径18.7厘米,边轮宽2.1厘米,厚2厘米。圆形,泥质灰陶。围绕中心乳柱以浮雕手法饰一白虎,其全身条纹,张口举爪,虎尾弯曲,劲健有力,神态威武。藏于中国国家博物馆。
“汉·错金铭文铜虎节”,长19厘米,高11.6厘米,厚1.2厘米。器身正面有错金铭文“王命=(命)车驲”。是迄今为止我国唯一发现的一件错金铭文铜虎节。藏于南越王博物院。
“金·磁州窑白釉褐花卧虎枕”,长34厘米,宽14厘米,高10厘米。猛虎为枕,体现了古人镇妖辟邪、祈愿吉祥的心理寄托。藏于周口市博物馆。
“清·皮影飞虎”,陕西岐山皮影飞虎,长42厘米,高28厘米。夸张的老虎脚踏祥云,火焰围绕,双目圆睁,形象威武非凡,灵气十足,富有浪漫色彩。藏于中国美术馆。
该套邮票由河南省邮电科技有限公司印制,根据虎文物的不同特点,六枚邮票分别采用了六种工艺。第一图采用胶雕套印,伏鸟双尾青铜虎文物的纹路清晰,形象栩栩如生;第二图在胶印、浮雕击凸工艺的基础上添加了玉石粉,以还原青玉虎形佩的自然光泽和温润效果;第三图在多色胶印基础上施以丝网哑砂和浮雕击凸工艺,使白虎的形象更加生动;第四图运用冷烫技术和击凸工艺复刻古代错金工艺,铜虎形象威风凛凛,更富立体感;第五图通过运用光油和浮雕击凸工艺,塑造虎安详、可爱的形象;第六图采用触感油工艺表现皮影飞虎的质感,荧光油墨在紫光灯作用下熠熠生辉。邮票底图采用多种专色印制,底纹运用老虎独特的元素与《虎(文物)》邮票主题完美契合,增添了文物独特的艺术魅力。
