Fang Zhimin (1899-1935) was a proletarian revolutionary, a member of the Sixth CPC Central Committee, a member of the Central Executive Committee and a member of Presidium of the Central Exeutive Committee of the Chinese Soviet Republic. He led the Yiheng uprisings and was one of the founders of the Red Army and the Soviet Area of Northeast Jiangxi Province. In 1934 he was arrested but remained faithful and unyielding. Some of the works he wrote in jail include lovely China and Records of Events in Jail. He died a heroic death the following year in Nanchang, Jiangxi.

方志敏(1899–1935)，江西戈阳人，中国无产阶级革命家，中共第六届中央委员，中华苏维埃共和国中央执行委员，主席团委员。他曾领导戈横起义，是赣东北红军和苏区创建人之一。1934年他率红军抗日先遣队北上抗日，在江西遭遇国民党反动派阻击，被捕，在狱中坚贞不屈，于次年在江西南昌英勇就义。
