The 15th National Congress of the Communist Party of China was held from September 12-18, 1997 in Beijing.

More than 2,000 delegates attended the congress. Comrade Jiang Zemin delivered a speech entitled “Hold high the great banner of Deng Xiaoping Theory for an all-round advancement of the cause of building socialism with Chinese characteristics to the 21st century”.
