With a long history and beautiful sceneries, China boasts rich tourist resources. China’s National Tourism Administration announced the Visit China’97 programme on the 45th Annual Session of the Asian-Pacific Tourism Association. This programme aims to promote China’s unique and attractive tourist resources as well as China’s tourist products, further boost the country’s tourism to a new stage and lay a foundation for realizing the goal that China will become a developed tourist country by the end of the century.

Today, the Great Wall, the Potala Palace, the Three Gorges on the Yangtze River and the five famous mountains have become the sites which tourists long to visit. Tourists from all over the world simply enjoy the special trips to the Three Gorges, the Yellow River area and the ancient Silk Road, where they linger along and appreciate to the full China’s scenery, relics and folk customs. In spring, the could go to Hainan for the International Coconut Festival; in summer, they could attend the Yueyang International Dragon Boat-Festival; in autumn, they could join in the International Qiantangjiang Tide Festival; and in winter, they could have great fun at the Harbin Ice Festival; Visit China’97 programme includes five major kinds of tours including holiday and special tours. The 16 special routes will bring visitors to China’s 35 spectacular, unique, beautiful and gorgeous best tourist scenic spots, including the Great Wall, the Potala Palace and the Three Gorges.
