• Three Pies / 1 Cent: Inverted overprint (倒盖) — one of the great rarities of Chinese philately.

Background

In 1910 (the 2nd year of Xuantong), the Qing government established a postal service in Tibet, creating the Tibet Postal District with its general office in Lhasa and branch offices at Gyantse, Phagri, Yatung, and Chamdo. Initially, the unwatermarked London Print Coiling Dragon stamps were used. However, due to currency differences between Tibet and other parts of China, a batch of these stamps was sent to Waterlow & Sons in London for surcharging with Chinese, English, and Tibetan text indicating denominations in Indian rupees. Sales began in March 1911 and the stamps were restricted for use only within Tibet.

背景

1910年（宣统二年），清政府在西藏创办邮政，设西藏邮区，总局设于拉萨，在江孜、帕克里、亚东、察木多设立邮局。原使用伦敦版无水印蟠龙邮票，后因币制不同，遂将一批无水印蟠龙票交由英国伦敦华德路公司加盖中、英、藏三种文字，表示印度卢比面值，限在西藏地方使用。1911年3月开始发售。
