China is a large country. There are 300 million children in the country, accounting for one-fourth of the population. The issue of children has always been of prime concern. In the past dozens of years, the Party and government have attached great importance to the healthy growth of children, mobilizing all the strength of the society to support the matter of primary importance.

Chinese children are happy. The state’s stability and economic growth have laid a good foundation for children’s growth. But as a less developed country which has many things to do, China would solve the problem of children first rather than other important matters complete laws on Health Care Law for Women and Children, Law of protection for Children’s rights and Law of Education of Youngsters have been promulgated and provided legal basis and guarantee for children’s healthy growth.

儿童是祖国的未来和希望。新中国成立以来，党和政府一向重视和关怀儿童的成长。我国有3亿多儿童，数量居世界之首。他们在全社会的精心培育下，欢乐健康地生活和成长。

1996年6月1日，为了纪念“六•一”国际儿童节，反映新中国儿童丰富多彩的现实生活，邮电部发行了《儿童生活》特种邮票，全套4枚。

本套邮票是由上海华山美术学校16岁的张乐陆同学设计。他10岁时参加日本首届邮票图稿设计获优秀奖。这套邮票画面表现出儿童天真活泼及稚拙的童心，展现了当代儿童活动的广阔天地。
