Background
Liu Bocheng (1892-1986) was born in Kaixian of Sichuan Province. In 1912 he was admitted to the Military Government School in Chongqing. In 1926 he joined the Communist Party of China. In 1927 he partially led the Nanchang Uprising. After the foundation of the People¡¯s Republic of China, he was appointed the Chairman of Military and Political Committee of the South West, the Chairman of the Military College of the PLA, the Chairman of the Senior Military College, the Vice Chairman of the Revolutionary Military Committee, the Vice Chairman of the National Defense Council, the Vice Chairman of the Military Committee of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, and etc. In 1955 he was conferred the military rank as Marshal of the People¡¯s Republic of China. He passed away in Beijing on October 7, 1986.
