国徽中间是五星照耀下的金色天安门，城楼上方的四颗小五角星以半弧状环绕一颗大五角星，国徽四周为麦穗和齿轮。齿轮和麦穗象征中国的工人阶级和农民阶级，天安门象征中国人民的斗争精神，而五颗星则象征中国共产党领导下的全国人民大团结。
画面未加边框，充分运用暖色色调的变化，突出了国徽四周的光晕，将国徽映衬得辉煌灿烂，光彩夺目，既富有立体感，又显得庄严和稳重。
