The ancient city of Pingyao, located in Kangning Road, Pingyao County, Jinzhong City, Shanxi Province, is located in the central part of Shanxi Province, was founded in the period of King Xuan of the Western Zhou Dynasty (827 years ago – 782 years ago), rebuilt and expanded the city in the third year of Hongwu in the Ming Dynasty (1370 years), it is the most complete ancient county town preserved in China today, the whole city is like a turtle crawling southward, so it is called “Turtle City”. The ancient city of Pingyao is composed of city walls, shops, streets, temples, dwellings, etc. together form a huge building complex, the whole city is symmetrically arranged, with the city building as the axis, with the south street as the axis, forming the feudal ritual pattern of the left city god, the right government office, the left Confucian Temple, the right Wu Temple, the East Taoist Temple, the West Temple, covering a total area of 2.25 square kilometers; Yamen Street and Chenghuangmiao Street form a dry-shaped commercial street.

The ancient city of Pingyao is one of the four most well-preserved ancient cities in China. In 1986, the ancient city of Pingyao was designated as a “National Historical and Cultural City” by the State Council, in 1997 it was listed as a “World Cultural Heritage” by the United Nations, and in 2015 it was listed as a national 5A-level tourist attraction.

In terms of design techniques and color treatment, the stamp scheme not only respects the original historical appearance, but also makes a multi-faceted artistic treatment. In the way of montage, the representative buildings of the ancient city are organically combined through the treatment of angles and colors. The stamp picture is both real and has a wide range of imagination, so that the viewer has a deeper understanding of the ancient city of Pingyao. The souvenir sheet is decorated with the statue of Wei Dao of Shuanglin Temple, the unique Tang Dynasty dougong of the main hall of Zhenguo Temple, the one-line drawing of the bird’s-eye view of South Street, the silhouette graphics of the ancient city from different angles, and the red lanterns in the market as the expression content, reflecting the overall style of the ancient city of Pingyao. The stamps were designed by Yan Bingwu and Rong Tie, and printed by Beijing Stamp Factory Co., Ltd.

P.S. 平遥古城，位于山西省晋中市平遥县康宁路，地处山西省中部，始建于西周宣王时期（前827年—前782年），于明代洪武三年（1370年）重建、扩修城池，是现今中国境内保存最为完整的一座古代县城，整座城池宛如乌龟向南爬行，因此有“龟城”之称。平遥古城由城墙、店铺、街道、寺庙、 民居等共同组成一个庞大的建筑群，整座城池对称布局，以市楼为轴心，以南大街为轴线，形成左城隍、右衙署，左文庙、右武庙，东道观、西寺庙的封建礼制格局，总占地面积2.25平方千米；城内街道格局为“土”字形，整体布局遵从八卦方位，由四大街、八小巷、七十二条蚰蜒巷构成八卦图案，南大街、东大街、西大街、衙门街和城隍庙街形成干字型商业街。

平遥古城是中国目前保存最为完整的四座古城之一。1986年，平遥古城被国务院定为“国家历史文化名城”，1997年被联合国列为“世界文化遗产”, 2015年被列入国家5A级旅游景区。

邮票方案在设计手法及色彩处理上，既尊重历史原貌，又做了多方面的艺术处理。以蒙太奇的方式将古城代表性建筑通过角度、色彩的处理进行有机结合。使邮票画面既真实又有广泛的想象空间，让观者对平遥古城有了更深切的了解。小全张边饰以双林寺韦驮像、镇国寺大殿独特的唐代斗拱、南大街鸟瞰的单线图、古城的不同角度剪影图形、街市的红灯笼为表现内容，体现了平遥古城的整体风貌。邮票由阎炳武、容铁设计，北京邮票厂有限公司影写工艺印制。

La ciudad antigua de Pingyao, ubicada en la ciudad de Jinzhong, provincia de Shanxi, condado de Pingyao, Kangning Road, ubicada en la parte central de la provincia de Shanxi, fue construida en el período del rey Xuan de la dinastía Zhou Occidental (hace 827 años – hace 782 años), reconstruyó y amplió la ciudad en el tercer año de Hongwu en la dinastía Ming (1370 años), es la ciudad del condado antiguo más intacta de China en la actualidad, toda la ciudad es como una tortuga que se arrastra hacia el sur, por lo que se llama “Ciudad Tortuga”.
