Chinese ancient architecture is diverse in form, rich and colorful, with both artistic value and practical value, and is an important part of the traditional culture of the Chinese nation. The pavilion is the most varied in shape, widely distributed and flexible in style among the ancient building types. In palaces, altar temples, temples, gardens and other architectural complexes, pavilions often play the role of finishing touches. This set of stamps is the second group in the “China Famous Pavilion” series.
Zhichun Pavilion is located on the small island on the east bank of Kunming Lake in the Summer Palace, was built in the Qianlong period, and it is said that the word “Zhichun” is derived from the Song poem “Spring River Plumbing Duck Prophet”, which is a square pavilion with a heavy eaves and a pointed four square pavilion, with a bridge embankment connected to the bank. The pavilion is stacked with stones, planted peaches and willows, and when winter goes to spring, the ice melts green here and the spring flood prophet is a good place for the Summer Palace to enjoy the spring and watch the scenery.
The “Shui-Liu-Yun-Zai” pavilion is located on the north shore of Chengde Mountain Resort Chenghu Lake, and is an open pavilion with a heavy eaves and a four-corner roof, and a roll-out shed on all sides. The main body is square, the pavilion has four eaves at the top, and the bottom floor has twelve eaves corners on all four sides, and the double layer has a total of sixteen eaves corners, which is unique in shape. The pavilion is named after Du Fu’s poem “Jiangting” in the Tang Dynasty Du Fu’s poem “The water flows in the heart, and the clouds are late”.
Wanchun Pavilion is located in the middle peak of Jingshan Mountain, 17.4 meters high, triple eaves at four corners of the point, yellow glazed tile roof, green cut edge decoration, majestic. Wanchun Pavilion is the highest and best viewing point on the north-south axis of Beijing, which overlooks the Forbidden City and overlooks the panoramic view of the capital.
Shuanghuan Pavilion, also known as Shuanghuan Wanshou Pavilion, was originally located in Zhongnanhai, and was relocated to the Temple of Heaven Park in 1976. It is composed of two heavy eaves and eight-column pavilions, the upper eaves are peacock blue glazed tiles with yellow trim, and the lower eaves are yellow tiles, which is the only remaining example of ancient construction in China. The cross-section of the double-ring pavilion is exactly like a double-ring set, and it is also like two shou peaches, taking the meaning of harmony, auspiciousness and longevity.

The stamps were designed by Jiao Yang, an associate professor at the School of Chinese Painting at the Central Academy of Fine Arts. The stamps are painted in the traditional Chinese way of craftsmanship, showing the beautiful scenery of the four famous pavilions in spring, summer, autumn and winter, respectively, and the painted pavilions are exquisite and delicate, and the picture is clear and simple. The four stamps are rendered in different tones to create a strong decorative meaning, making the picture composition richer, and setting off the beauty and sophistication of the royal garden pavilion.
