The Nantong Museum, sitting by the side of Haohe River in the southeast part of Nantong, Jiangsu Province, is the first museum of China. It was established by Mr. Zhang Jian, a well-known Chinese industrialist and educationist, in 1905. Consisting of the Central, Southern and Northern halls, the museum has housed exhibitions on history, nature and culture. In the garden of the museum are a large number of rare plants. This museum with a garden was a pioneer in China’s museum development history. Celebrating its centennial this year, Nantong Museum is an ideal place for visiting, studies and sightseeing with its rich collections and profound cultural background.
